Teams are required to fulfill their assigned officiating duties.

Failure to officiate your assigned match will result in the following enforcement actions:
-
Partial Miss (e.g., late arrival or early departure):
-
May result in loss of a set or match, depending on the severity and timing of the missed portion.
-
-
Full Miss (no-show for an officiating duty):

Results in an automatic forfeit of the team’s match.

Playing rules
Playing rules
We follow USA Volleyball rules with a few key modifications to keep things fun, fair, and safe.
General Gameplay
-
Net Height: Standard coed height – 7’9” (or as close as we can set it).
-
Ceiling: The ceiling is out of bounds.
-
Center Line Rule: The “old school” rule applies:
-
Hands or feet may cross the center line if they remain in contact with or above the line.
-
No other body parts may touch the opponent’s court.
-
Sport Court Rule
-
You may chase a ball beyond the edge of the sport court.
-
However, when retrieving the ball, you must still be in contact with the playing surface at the moment you touch the ball.
Substitutions
-
Unlimited total subs allowed per match.
-
USAV substitution rules apply, including libero guidelines.
-
Players may substitute male-for-male or female-for-female—but keep reading for important format notes.
Injury Exception
-
If a player is injured and cannot continue, teams may finish with five players, as long as two women are on the court at all times.
Libero Guidelines
We’re offering more flexibility with liberos—but we ask you to play within the spirit of the coed format:
-
You may use a libero, male or female.
-
At least two women must always be on the court, and must rotate through the front row.
-
“Ironman libero” tactics are not allowed. This isn’t a workaround to sub out female front-row play.
Abuse of Libero/Sub Rules:
If the tournament director determines a team is abusing these privileges (e.g., subbing women out of the front row consistently to stack men at the net), that team will:
-
Lose libero privileges for the rest of the tournament.
-
Be restricted to same-gender substitutions only, as in previous years.
At the coin toss, please inform the opposing captain if you plan to use a libero, and briefly explain how they’ll be used to avoid confusion during the match.
Got questions? Ask early.
Find the Day Official before your match starts—we want this to be a fair, friendly tournament and don’t want disputes afterward!
